How Avar IME works
- Letters sit where they are on the Russian ЙЦУКЕН layout, so an English layout works too.
- You can also click the on-screen keys with the mouse.
- In the text to copy, Ӏ is shown in red so it is not mistaken for I or l.
Many Avar letters are written with two characters, such as гъ, кӀ or лъ. Keys with a red dot (г к х л т ц ч с) open a list of them.
- Press the number of the letter you need, or click it. ↑ and ↓ move through the list.
- To keep the plain letter, just keep typing (or press Esc).
- You can also type ъ, ь and Ӏ yourself, as usual.
While you type a word, the list shows whole words that begin with it. After a space it suggests the next word.
- Press the word's number, click it, or press Tab for the first suggestion.
- Esc closes the list. If you don't need a suggestion, just keep typing.
You don't have to choose the letter variants. Type the plain letters, and the suggestions also include words with гъ, кӀ, лъ and the rest:
гамма → гӀамма · цум → цӀум
Pick the word by its number or with Tab, and the right letters are put in for you. This works for up to three such letters in one word.
